WHAT's Descartes Error

"the separation of mind & body"
giving you the tools you need
The body and the brain are not separate systems working in isolation. They are in constant conversation, integrating information that shapes not only what we think, but what we feel, sense, and know. Together, they help us make meaning of our experiences and guide how we respond to the world around us.
When this integration is supported, thoughts and emotions blend into a deeper, more trustworthy form of knowing—one that is often more accurate and grounded than decisions made from thought alone, emotion alone, or impulsive guessing. This embodied knowing arises through sensation, intuition, and felt sense, offering guidance that includes logic and lived experience.
In a culture that often privileges logic over emotion and speed over presence, this kinesthetic intelligence is frequently dismissed or ignored. Yet decisions made without the wisdom of the body tend to be unbalanced, reactive, or incomplete. True clarity emerges when the mind listens to the body and the body is allowed to inform the mind.
The resources on this page are designed to help you reconnect with this natural intelligence—strengthening the relationship between body and brain so you can respond to life with greater awareness, steadiness, and wholeness.
Reconnecting with the wisdom of the body is not about fixing yourself or striving for perfection. It is about remembering a capacity that has always been within you—the ability to listen, to sense, and to respond with care. When body and brain are in conversation, choice becomes clearer and life is met with greater steadiness and compassion. This work unfolds gently, one moment of awareness at a time. Your body holds knowledge, your mind brings clarity, and together they support a way of living that is more whole, more human, and deeply aligned with the truth that life is always in progress.
In 1994, Antonio Damasio, a neurologist that studied the connection between reason and emotion wrote, Descartes Error. He discussed what he viewed as Descartes error the separation of mind & body. Damasio proposed that consciousness isn't just a brain function but involves the entire body. He suggests that the brain works in tandem with other biological systems like the endocrine and immune systems, emphasizing a holistic view of consciousness. Damasio, Antonio R.
