DO YOU HAVE GROWING EDGES?
We all have places in our lives where we need to improve. It can be our thinking, managing and tolerating our feelings, or our behavior in any life area. These are our growing edges.

"Life quietly asks each of us the same question: Will you grow, or will you remain captive to old wounds? Pain that is left unhealed rarely ends with us; it often travels silently through generations, shaping lives long after it began. But healing can travel through generations as well. Every step toward growth, every act of courage, every willingness to face what hurts becomes an investment in a different future. When we choose to heal rather than hide, we become the bridge between the past and the possibilities ahead. We create a legacy of greater freedom, wisdom, compassion, and joy—for ourselves, for our children, and for those yet to come. What legacy will your choices create?"

At LIFE IN PROGRESS growth is about learning how to:
• become an adult
• how to be tolerant of differences
• how to be skillful, generalize and refine old and new skills
Growth is about evolving into strong peaceful kind person. In reality, growth is about becoming a leader that is example of a the goodness that humans can bring into the world not about power or riches or fame, although those may come the essence is about becoming fully human.
Growth takes work & sometimes we chose not to grow.
Impoverished or neglectful environments are not prime soil for growth. If little knowledge exists that life can be better or different than seeking it is not even a consideration.
Sometimes the opportunities to grow are limited or non-existence.
We do not believe we need to grow or change. We have no growing edges or defend our shortcomings…”I’m fine the way I am”
Poor ego strengths doesn’t allow us to admit our shortcomings. It blocks our awareness and keeps us stuck in our own self-absorption.
Lack off belief that growth is easily within our grasp that we are worthy and capable. No special talents needed.
Relationships—and life itself—tend to stretch us right at the places where growth is most needed. As our ability to think and reason can be our greatest asset so can it be our most persistent obstacle. The thoughts that move through our minds have the power to liberate us or quietly keep us captive. Hence, learning to manage our thinking is not simple, and learning not to believe everything we think is even harder. However, this skill is essential for healthy relationships, wise choices, and emotional well-being.
Much of adult suffering is not caused by circumstances alone, but by the stories we tell ourselves about those circumstances. Subsequently, by allowing those stories to drive our emotions and behavior without question. Developing a healthier relationship with our thoughts is one of the most powerful growth edges we encounter in life.
The WIZMINs presented here are designed to gently challenge habitual patterns of thinking and to strengthen metacognition—thereby improving our capacity to think about our thinking. This “second brain” allows us to step back, observe our thoughts and reactions, and respond with greater clarity and intention rather than from reflex or reactivity.
As this observing mind develops, we gain access to a more grounded, objective, and emotionally mature perspective that further evolves into what many experience as their adult self. From this place, thoughts can be evaluated rather than obeyed, emotions can be honored without overwhelming us, and behavior can align more closely with our values.
These skills are not about perfection; they are about processes that leads to refining our internal thought-management system so it supports growth rather than limits it.
Life in Progress is here to walk alongside you as you explore these growing edges. The topics below highlight skills we often need in adult life—but were rarely taught, and sometimes didn’t even know we needed. Consider them as invitations: to reflect, to practice, and to grow with curiosity and compassion.

As we become teens and graduate from highs school, get jobs, go onto college with think we are adults, and in rare occasions we have reached a stable adult stance but for most of us that journey lies ahead of us still. Many never reach it. We may have profound intellects and and expertise but we lack the wisdom and skills of true adulthood. Remain very young in our emotional responses, our self care is poor, we lack intimacy in our life and attempt to fulfill it with addictive behaviors. Growth is the path beyond self interest, judgment, and conflict. It is a journey to inner peace and evolving growth.
As we understand ourselves and others better we see the world and are able to perceive it from a wider range of vantage points thus giving use the opportunity to divine greater wisdom.
Growth leads us to reflect on our growing edges so we have the opportunity to polish those place we want to better in ourselves.
As we know ourselves better and integrate our skills so we can more fluidly manage our interaction with others,
As we become more insightful we become more aware of where we need to develop better skills in our interactions with others.
Although we are not responsible for others feelings if we care about someone we are responsible for noting how what we say or do impacts them. Thus we chose to modify our behavior to some extent to create more comfortable environments for others.
Being more aware of ourselves and others is basic step in groth.
Leading with my strengths and honing the growing edges.

A growth mindset is one in which an individual is open to learning and changing.
A fixed mindset is an individual who is not open to learning or changing themselves. “they are who they are” they see no reason to change often because they believe there is nothing wrong with themselves.
Awareness typically precedes intentional awareness and change.
Yes. Substantially, addiction redirects the focus from growth to numbing out at the cost of growth. Growth stops where addictions begin.
Rarely. There is a reason I refer to it as the her/heroines journey at times. It is not a journey for the faint of heart.
